Air Fryer French Fries
Crispy, golden, addictive homemade fries that rival any restaurant. The secret is soaking in cold water to remove starch and drying completely before cooking. These come out crunchy on the outside, fluffy inside, with a fraction of the oil of deep frying.
- 4 large russet potatoes
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- Fresh parsley (optional)
- Cut potatoes into 1/4-inch thick fries (uniform size is key).
- Soak in cold water for 30 minutes minimum (removes starch = crispier fries).
- Drain and pat COMPLETELY dry with towels.
- Toss with olive oil, salt, garlic powder, and paprika.
- Preheat air fryer to 400°F.
- Cook in single layer (batches if needed) for 18-22 minutes.
- Shake basket every 5 minutes for even cooking.
- Season with extra salt and parsley while hot.
